  • Vray 5 udpate 2.5 Dome Light Crashing Sketchup 2022

    Hi Everyone,

We have been experiencing some weird crashes after placing dome lights recently. We first started noticing it on my colleagues PC and its now happening on mine too. I can open a blank new sketchup model, start placing dome lights and suddenly the model will crash. Sometimes right away, sometimes only after placing a couple of them. Now the weird thing is i just tested it on my girlfriends PC and it's not crashing for her even after placing like 15 dome lights. We are running the same versions of sketchup and vray as far as i know.

Anyone else experiencing something similar? Is there a way to log the crash that i could send here for review? We tried updates and reinstalling sketchup and vray but it didn't help. I'm running Windows 11 and he is running Windows 10 on his computer. My girlfriend is running Windows 11 where it's not crashing (yet)

    Thanks,

    Dear levente_redecky, hello.

Excuse us for the delayed response.
Since no other users have joined the thread with the same complaint, let's start with your findings and catch the cause "crew".

    For now we have:
    • OS type and versions = Win 10 & Win 11
    • exact V-Ray versions (please double-check, it's important)
    • exact SketchUp version (this one too, please)
    Confirm and share also:
    • it is happening in newly created blank scenes too
    • it is happening only with Dome lights (this particular Light type)
    • what other SketchUp extensions are installed on the mentioned configurations (perhaps there will be a difference in the list)
    • are you placing them when V-Ray Interactive is on or just placing them in the viewport without any rendering performed
If there is a BugSplat, please add your e-mail and submit it. We will receive information about V-Ray related issues.
In addition check %TEMP% (or C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp) for created .dmp files and logs after the crash.
It is better to share this kind of files via our contact form and continue the discussion here thereafter, keep this in mind.

    Best regards,
    TS
