  • Bitmap material transparency question

    Hi all,

What is the most simple way to make a bitmap based material semi- transparent? I used to do it in the sketchup color window and then simply change the opacity slider, but I guess there must be a vray-way to do it?

    Dear maarten_vis, hello.

You could try changing the Refraction color (by default is black), use light grey and you will see the Refraction.
No matter is there a bitmap attached or only color is used, you will see the transparency.
Depending on your geometry you may need to enable Thin-Walled.
You could find a simple example here. If you will need this transparency in the Alpha channel, please be aware that you should choose Color + Alpha or All Channels in Refraction Advanced Settings, see here.

Also, there is a Opacity section in V-Ray default material, you could use it too by lowering the value, see here.

Please check both ways and contact us back if needed.
    Best regards,
    TS
