  • Vray Load Errors

    Hello,
I had been using Vray 6.0.0.0.3 for Sketchup with Sketchup 2021 for the last couple of months. Today I updated to version 6.1.0.0.0 after a notification.
Since then I can't use Vray. I had to finish a project tonight and instead I am trying to fix this issue for the last 4 hours.
I uninstalled Vray and Sketchup and cleaned everything from the registry at least 15 times. Re installed, logged out, logged in. I'm connected to the internet, there is no firewall blocking the software...
After successfully signing in both software say that I can close the page and continue working in Sketchup and Vray.
But no way. Nothing works. I can't get the Vray Icons back in Sketchup.

I am a very long time Vray and Sketchup user. Never had this issue before. All used to work without problems.

Below is the "LOAD ERRORS" messages when Sketchup starts:

    Hello, Constantin,
Firstly, please be advised V-Ray 6 for SketchUp's minimum system requirement is Windows 10, thus the stability of our product cannot be guaranteed under Windows 8.1.

With that said, there should not have been any difference in V-Ray's behavior between v6.00.03 and v6.10.00. One of the libraries we use in both versions should not actually work on anything older than Windows 10 so our devs expected the error you posted to also occur for you with v6.00.03.
The fact you have used the previous V-Ray version successfully on your Windows 8.1 system means that there should not have been any changes to your experience.

As there is no other theory proposed by our devs, could you please confirm the following details to help us shed some light on the situation?
    1. Have any changes to SketchUp, your OS or your security software been made at the time of updating to V-Ray for SketchUp v6.1?
    2. Have any other 3rd-party extensions for SketchUp been installed at the time of updating to V-Ray for SketchUp v6.1?
    3. Does the V-Ray load issue occur if you disable all other 3rd-party extensions in SketchUp (except V-Ray)?
    4. Has there been any errors or or other regular issues with V-Ray v6.00.03?
    Kind regards,
    Peter

      Hi Peter,

Yes, I am aware that the minimum system required is windows 10. I use this computer just to work on the scene or modelling when I'm home. I render with my other computers at the office.
What is weird is that I used to work with this computer since Vray Next. And Vray 5 and Vray 6 worked flawlessly. I could install, authorize and could work without any problems until last night.
I didn't install anything new. Or didn't update anything.
I just turned on my computer, received a notification about the update. Just ignored it at first.
Opened the project and started working.
Then I just wanted to do a break. And updated Vray.
After the update, I started getting the load errors which never happened before.
I uninstalled, removed everything from registry, re installed but nothing worked for me. Even installing the older versions of Vray...
Because I uninstalled Sketchup, 3ds Max, Autocad and all Vrays, I don't have any extensions or software other than Sketchup and Vray, but still get the same error.
I will try formatting the system today and re installing windows and the software.

Thanks you for your help anyway.

Reinstalling your OS will likely be of no help so I suggest you do not spend time doing it.
Would you feel ok if we arrange a remote meeting via TeamViewer to assess the circumstances of your issue directly?
I and the Chaos Support team are available on week days between 9:00 - 17:00 EEST. Please let me know in a private message about your preference or alternatively, fill in a support form at https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new mentioning this forum thread.

        Kind regards,
