  • PNG image transparent in model, but black in rendering

I am having issues with a PNG image rendering black. I have set the 'affect channels' in reflection and refraction set to 'all channels', but its still not working. I even tried to give it thickness and treat it like its glass, but its still no change. Any ideas?

I figured it out. The solution was the reverse side of the material had to also be transparent.

      Hello kerstin_pirzek1,

Thank you for letting us know that you have found the reason and the solution.
You are correct that transparent material (with opacity, reflection, etc.) should be applied to both Front and Back faces. To ensure this we recommend to apply material from V-Ray Asset Editor by right-clicking on material > Apply to Selection.

Also, I wanted to add that you can use Decal to project your material on the surface. If you are not familiar with this feature please check our documentation and also this tutorial.

If you encounter any issues or have questions do not hesitate to contact us.
