  • When rendering, Sketch Up goes black

    Good day,

I am using Sketch Up and V-ray on my Mac. Whenever I click the render button the render pops up in full screen and it is working properly, however when I go back to Sketch Up the window is black, I am unable to see or click anything on Sketch Up. Please help me with this problem.

    Hello smit_patel

    We would like to ask:
    • What is your V-Ray version? You can check it here: Extensions > V-Ray > Help > About. Please share a screenshot with us.
    • Please share your machine specifications - a screenshot of About this Mac would be sufficient.
    • Is the issue happening only in some specific scene or even in a new empty scene. Please make a test and share the result.
    • Were there any specific actions made before this problem started (V-Ray updates, settings changed, downloaded assets, etc)
    • Lastly, please test your CPU performance, run V-Ray Benchmark test, and send screenshots of your results.
    Thank you

      Hello smit_patel,

I assume you are using SketchUp in full screen mode. Could you please try disabling the Parent Frame Buffer option from Extensions > V-Ray > Preferences > Parent Frame Buffer?
Let me know if this fixes the issue.

      Kind regards,
      Iva

              Hello smit_patel,

I am glad to hear that. When enabled, the Parent Frame Buffer option ensures that the VFB window stays on top of the SketchUp window (note that the option is macOS only). However it is better to disable it in the cases when using SketchUp in full screen mode or using VFB on a second display.

              Kind regards,
              Iva
