  • Chaos cosmos materials issue

    Hey guys!

Here at the office we have a question related to the use of materials available on Chaos Cosmos.

After preparing the scene by an architect (computer 01), the file is saved on the office server (cloud) and when another architect (computer 02) accesses this same file, many maps are lost (broken path links).

And we have to import and reapply the materials from Chaos Cosmos, generating a lot of rework.

Is there any way for materials to preserve the maps when they are sent to different computers?

    Thanks.

    Hello adriana_noya,
    Welcome to Chaos Forums!

When transferring your scene with all assets to a different machine the Pack Project tool should be used. This tool will make an archive that includes the scene itself with all textures and other assets used in the scene.

Another option is to to use a shared folder, not a local one for each user to be able to access same assets from different machines. Ensure that all users have the same file path set and available for all assets (including your custom assets). This way you won’t need to relink them or pack the project each time to transfer to another machine.

Once you have created such folder, change the Cosmos Download directory to this shared folder on each machine. In SketchUp open Cosmos Browser, click on the three dots > Settings > Change Asset Download Folder (example). It is best to restart SketchUp to initiate this change.

For more details please take a look at this forum post.
