  • edges texture on bump channel doesn't show correctly

    Hi everyone,
    I applied an edges texture on the bump channel, but the result is not visible. Or rather, it is only partially visible, between the horizontal elements at the top and the vertical ones, but between the vertical elements the surface becomes flat.

    This happens if I launch a normal render, with the interactive it does not happen, even if the bump between the vertical and horizontal bands is still more evident.

    I also noticed that if I transform the components into groups the bump is visible, but it does not seem the best solution to transform more than 100 elements into groups. where am I going wrong?

    Hello damiano_corradini​!

    The Edges texture looks correctly set. There should be no different behavior between the groups and the components.
    I couldn't reproduce the issue on our side.
    Could you send us more information about the V-Ray version that you use and a packed test project (V-Ray>Pack Project...) through our support portal (https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new) with the link from this forum topic in the message?​ This way we can investigate the issue further more.

      Thank you for sending us a test scene, damiano_corradini​!

      We managed to reproduce the described issue with your scene and GPU render engine. Indeed, there is a discrepancy between the Interactive and Progressive rendering with GPU - some of the vertical edges disappear. It is now logged in our internal system (ticket VGPU-6607). As a workaround, you can use the Edges texture with the CPU render engine.
      Will let you know when there is more information.
