  • rendering sections gives strange surfaces in b/w

    Dear,
Rendering sections gives all of a sudden strange surfaces. The b/w surfaces are not in the middle of the section (blue), which is odd. F.e. look at the desk chair: not sected, but it looks like a section fill in my render.

I didn't change anything to my settings and this occured suddenly. I've tried anything within my knowledge and experience to solve this issue, but I don't seem to succeed. Is there anyone who can help me out with my project?

Also I see that there are a lot of edges in this model (1371 edges), although I group/compose everything. Normally my models are about 50 edges. Don't know if this has got anything to do with the first issue though.

    -SketchUp Pro
    -Windows 11
-All graphic cards, drivers and software are up to date.

    Thanks a lot in advance!
    Tanja

You can try to uncheck "use model material" option, it is a slider, i forget the exact words..

        Hi,
would it be a good idea to repair SU?
Because lately lots of things are going wrong and are different.
Will I take any risk by doing that?
Shall I run sketchup.exe as administator and will all my files and settings, styles... still be the same?

        thank you
        Tanja

          Hello tanja_brandt,
          Thank you for posting.

Regarding the Section plane artifact please see my colleagues post in this thread here.

If the provided steps do not work for you please share your scene with us so we could troubleshoot. To do that open a ticket to our 3D support team and upload your archived scene - make sure to use Pack Project Tool in order to include all used assets.

Additionally share the exact V-Ray build that you are currently using (a screenshot of About window V-Ray for SketchUp would be sufficient).

would it be a good idea to repair SU?
For this question please check my answer in your other forum post.

natalia.gruzdova Thanks, the section plane artifact is ok now. It was just a matter of unboxing 'use model material'. The section fill problem still not working properly. I just made a ticket and send you all the info and the packed file. Thankful for your help!

I am sure Vray team will solve your problem. But if you want to know how to fix it inside sketchup model, you can visit and look " Filling voids in section cuts" topic, in this page, https://help.sketchup.com/en/sketchu...el-peer-inside
You can just paint the inside face of the walls and it can work..
Edit : I can't remember if choosing the filling material from the list in Vray Section settings cause the same issue or not. You can try..
