  • V-Ray stopped working for me this morning

I've tried everything I possibly can to resolve this issue. I re installed VRay for SketchUp, I reinstalled the license server, I tried a repair install of SketchUp Studio... I am stuck. I get this error

[V-Ray] Error building Embree static ray caster, error message: [CommitEmbreeThread::threadProc] 1: Committing scene failed

I followed the steps in this post as it appeared to be the same exact issue I was having and this solution worked.

      Hi,
Did a simple reinstall of the Microsoft Visual Redistributable work for you or you had to go through the additional steps?

The reinstall alone solved the VRay problem but a week later when our IT person was installing Revit and AutoCAD 2026 he said he came across an issue installing them. He said, “ repaired VS C++ and restarted your computer. After that, I was able to install the apps w/o issue. I think the relevant change was the repair to VS C++”

i have not yet confirmed this but before he ran the repair, I was having issues with the paint bucket/eyedropper in SketchUp 2025. I reported to Trimble but they said they were not getting other reports of this. Today, after the VS C++ repair, that tool seems to be functioning properly now. Related?
