  • Setting parameters

I used v-ray for sketchup 5 RC 1, with the same parameters setting (which you suggest in your web site) that i used in the previous version. But in the new one they make worse imagines. Can you suggest me the right parameter setting for the last version?
    Thanks

    Re: Setting parameters

The main changes between these versions relate to the physical sky and physical camera. The latest V-Ray SDK corrected a couple issues that were not being handled properly. Also - refraction is handled more realistically, which can result in some longer render-times.

Without an example of what problem it is you are trying to get around, I'm not sure I can suggest any settings. If you feel that the image is too bright then perhaps modifying the settings of the physical camera will yield you better results. Maybe you could be a little more specific?

If you'd like to post an image to show what you mean- you can upload them to a free image hosting site (http://imageshack.us ,or do a google search for "free image hosting" ) and then show them in your post by doing
    Code:

          Re: Setting parameters

I guess you could try more subdivs for the irradiance map to resolve some of the blotchiness. I think Damien (dalomar) might have a more comprehensive answer if he sees your image though.

            Re: Setting parameters

Check up on your secondary bounces. I would suggest you use Light Cache and have the subdivisions at about 1500-2500 for final quality. I would also decrease the scale from .02 to .01 or .005 depending on your resolution (larger resolution->smaller scale). Also if you have alot of glossy reflection/refraction like you do in that scene, then enabling Use for Glossy Rays will speed up the rendering as well. Keep in mind that the quality of your glossy reflections will be influenced by the quality of your LC solution. Lastly you will probably need to increase the subdivisions on your glossy materials. Those reflections look pretty glossy (about .65 I would say) and the really require alot more subdivisions to really be smooth. Balance the increase in subdivisions with the amount of time that you would like the render to take.

I changed the parameters setting as you said, but i don't like the result i had. Light is worse then it was before.
