  • Vertical sunlight/ shadows

I have just downloaded and installed vray4sketchup 6 RC 1.
Now i can only render with an exact vertical sun and shadow. Changing the sketchup sunlight position/ settings, does not have any effect on my renderings.

All my vray settings are basic plugin settings.

    Have anyone experienced this?

      Re: Vertical sunlight/ shadows

I'm not experiencing this. With the 'default lights' boxed checked in vray, I find the sun follows the sketchup sun position ok. (At one stage I did have a point light installed and forgot that it was there so of course, as it doesn't move, the shadows don't move either. - I deleted it)

          Hi
          I solved the problem.
By default the environment GI(skylight) and Background (Both set on sky) have the "override sun´s parameters checked". Uncheck both and the sun+shadows act normal.

The strange thing is when i load the visopt presets and set GI(skylight) and Background to "sky", sketchup crashes when rendering. I think someone else had similar problem.

I'm glad you sorted that out! Thanks for posting it. Looking for that sort of thing among all the options would drive you nuts, so its a useful thing to know about. Thanks

Yep - this problem won't trouble you in the next release. But I'm glad you found a quick workaround for it.

                      Re: Vertical sunlight/ shadows

Try saving out your current scene's settings as a visopt and then loading them back in. This seems to correct something with the Sun/Sky settings. I thought I had corrected the issue - but we've noticed it as well. Sorry guys.
