  • Image plane transparency problem

I'm having problems with the transparency of image planes.

The image plane is shaped so it somewhat matches the tree but the visible light green edge should be transparent from the alpha.
I'm using linked materials and tried with both sketchups default material with alpha and also tried adding a transparency map in the vray material
but nothing seem to work. The alpha is correct.
How to do this so it works?

I beleive it's the PNG transparancy. You should creata a separate alpha transparancy map and a image. That's how it works in the real 3D texturing world. The PNG solution is something Sketchup uses and is otherwise not that common.

Yes, the problem was with linked material. When I applied a vray material with jpgs for texture and alpha it works.
And as a side note, the area outside the tree in the texture need to be black otherwise it will be semitransparent with GI on.

I see - ok I'll do some testing to see if we can get around this. Thanks
