Any idea whats causing this?

The 'blotchs' in the shadows and around the base of the building are what I am talking about. Both interior and exterior shots have these artifacts. The Ground is a Vray Infinite Plane. The problem occours on 'regular' surfaces too.
I am really impressed and excited about VRay for SketchUp and I have some experiance with VRay for 3DSMax. I am using Irradiance Map as Primary (Min rate. -3 Max Rate 0) and Light Cache as Secondary (Subdivs. 800) and no matter what I do I can't seem to elimate these.
I have tried these settings on two quite different machines and no luck at getting rid of them. I did have some success (altough not consistant) when upping the render settings to VERY high quality.
Any pointers in the right direction would be HUGELY appreciated!
Cheers
