  • SUN SHADOW DISSAPEAR

Good day Vray Users! I think i've found a bug in Vray or SU perhaps. When I try to load an HDRI in the Environment/GI settings/ and load up the image thru bitmap/texture or environment, then try to render my project, the sun's shadow dissapears. I don't know why this is happening. When I try to set it(clear) again in default, the sun's shadow appears and sometimes dissapears. I'm irritated & puzzled by this.

One more thing, when im assigning vray linked materials or applied them to a specific object--then changed it afterwards, the object still possess the same material as if it wasn't removed. Why? Also when applying materials in objetcts that have I've already setup in the Material editor, and try to remove it and use the "apply material" command, and set it to "none", it doesn't change a thing. Why oh why?

All of the Sun settings are controlled through the GI sky mapping. So if you remove that Sky mapping, you essentially remove the physical sun (the direct light is still there, but is not the same as the physical sun). As far as sun shadows dissapearing check the post here.

The reason why linked materials don't show up when you apply them is that SU doesn't know about V-Ray materials. So even though the SU material is being used by the V-Ray material it still doesn't apply the SU material when you apply the linked material (hope that makes sense). I agree that if you apply a linked material to an object, then the SU material that is referenced should also be applied.

      Mikaztro...
Before every rendering I always re-apply the settings in the enviroment panel.
This sometimes helps when sky-sun settings seem to change randomly...

Thanks Damien for clearing this up. Biebel, thanks for reminder. I hope the next version of Vray fr SU will apply the SU material that is referenced.
