  • Vista x64 - SP1

It seems that Vray for Sketchup is not working with Vista SP1.

There seems to be somekind of a problem with InstallShield ?

It have seen that there is some Service Pack for the installprogram - are you aware of this ? I don't know if that fixes the problem....

            Re: Vista x64 - SP1

Both Vista SP1 and this latest VfSU update is both Release Candidates. So hang tight for final releases. It's to be expected when you try out software which is in beta and RC state.
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

                  Re: Vista x64 - SP1

                  Hey guys,

I was taking a look on the forums today to see what everyone's response is to the latest release candidate version of V-Ray for SketchUp SP1. We're getting closer to finalizing it, and we just wanted to see how everyone liked it so far. I decided to take a look in the "bug" V-Ray for SketchUp forum, just to make sure that nobody was still actually posting bugs in here... and it looks like you guys still are...

If you'll notice, the first thread in this forum, the one titled "Important notice about reporting bugs", explains that we don't look at the forums for bugs anymore. Eventually this section will probably even be closed down entirely. If you're experiencing any technical difficulty, and you want anyone at ASGvis to answer you, please please please submit a support ticket as explained in "Important notice about reporting bugs". That way we actually see your question, and can respond accordingly.

Now, as for this issue with installing our product with Vista, I can't be sure that you're all experiencing the same issue. Yes, I know you're all having installation issues, but it doesn't seem to be the same from one person to the next.

So based off of what you guys have been saying... all we know is that you're having problems installing. It might not even be related to the operating system, it might be security software, the version of SketchUp, the version of V-Ray for SketchUp... it could be a lot of things. So please submit a support ticket so we can take a look at each of your issues separately, diagnose them, and resolve them.

                    Re: Vista x64 - SP1

I think closing down the bug section is a bad thing.
Hopefully, closing it is not a 'cover up' operation to disguise problems from the audience...

I am switching from x32 to vista 64 bit. Hopefully Vray will work.

                      Re: Vista x64 - SP1

                      biebel,

First of all the bug section isn't closed, and secondly any software company who thinks their product doesn't have bugs is in a major state of denial, so we're not trying to cover them up. The main reason for the new system is so that the developers have a more concise system for reporting them, a better way to know the circumstances surrounding bugs, a better organization of the bugs that are reported, and a one stop shop for finding all of the reports. The new system is a better way for the developers to get the information about them and fix them...thats the motivation behind the system.

There's nothing keeping you guys from posting bugs as you always have been, we just ask that you make sure that you go through the new process as well...

Hope that helps shed some light on the reason for the new system.

                        Re: Vista x64 - SP1

I see and understand better now.
I had the wrong impression at first that we wouldn't be allowed to post problems we encounter anymore. (QUOTE Dkendig: "Eventually this section will probably even be closed down entirely")

                        Thanks for explaining.
Indeed, a good semi-automated bug report system can streamline the dev process so that is a good thing.

                        Regards and enjoy the weekend,

                        Biebel

                              Hello,

I thought I'd take a look on here one more time, just to see if anyone was still stuck on this issue. I see that there are still a couple people that are having trouble. Just to let you guys know, this issue appears to be resolved in the latest (internal release) version of our software. So hang in there just a little bit longer guys.

You might also want to look at answers I gave on this thread: http://asgvis.com/index.php?option=c...0&topic=3384.0 for further assistance with getting the product installed in Vista.
