Re: Skp Vray materials shut down programm

I ran into a huge issue that whenever I tried to do practically anything with the material editor SU would get frozen out. The root of the issue wound up being a bug in SU, so I upgraded to the most recent version. Please do that and see if you still have the issue. Right now I have version 6.4.112 which works fine.

Are you using the SR1 RC? VfSU v1 works fine for me. But the SR1 Release Candidates has proven troublesome to me. It keeps crashing when I use the V-Ray materials window.
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

        I have the same issue.
Everytime i try to alter the setttings in SU materials/edit, and then open vray material editor it crashes (pops up a windows that says "forkert paramteter", which roughly meens "wrong parameter").

        Any workaround about this?
Its mostly cause i wanna change the textures default size on the vray materials (for instance for brick textures).

What build of SU do you have??? I was experiencing this with older builds, and upgrading to a newer version (6.4.112) fixed the issue. Right now this is believed to be an issue with SU. The dialog box that you're seeing is actually not ours, but from SU, so we have been unable to gather many details about this error.

Please fill out a support ticket and report this bug. Details of what you were doing (although it probably wasn't much), as well as the version of SketchUp that you are working with are very important.

Re: Skp Vray materials shut down programm

I have SU version 6.4.112 and VRay version 1.00.34. For me the bug is hit or miss. It typically happens the third or fourth time I evoke the ME. I get an error warning of an "improper parameter" and SU shuts down. Can anything else be done? It makes the plugin rather unusable.

Additionally the render options and material properties are never saved/retained when I close the SU file, be it voluntarily or not. Should these settings and material parameters attach to the SU file or do I need to save the options and export the material then load/import them back every time I re-open the file?

            Thanks.

Re: Skp Vray materials shut down programm

jGo- It looks like you're using the latest version of SketchUp, but not the latest version of our plugin. Google changed a lot of things in the latest version of SketchUp, and our latest version deals with those changes much better than our older versions do. We'll probably be putting out another RC soon, we've fixed a couple bugs with DR and a couple other features here and there. We've received a couple reports of this "improper parameter" error popping up, but have had a hard time reproducing it. I'm going to try just opening the ME over and over to see if I can get the message to appear for me. Thanks for the tip!
              Best regards,

Re: Skp Vray materials shut down programm

I think I've figured out when SU crashes due to the opening and closing of the V-Ray material editor. I've tried this several times and have been able to get it to crash every time.

Here are the steps, try it out and see if it crashes for you:

                1. Use the paint bucket to apply a material to a 'group' & sometimes a 'component'. If applied to a surface it did not crash for me.

                2. Adjust any of the settings for the material in the SketchUp material editor. Such as change the scale of a texture map, change the color etc.

                3. Then open the V-Ray material editor.

                4. Boom... You should get a Bug Splat...

I have the latest version of sketchup and the latest release of Vray (dated May 0

My biggest problem is getting the shadow settings to work. With the installation of the latest Vray, light is cast directly down only no matter what settings I have made to the GI (Skylight).

Any help there would be great...
