Any one experienced that a model will sometimes render with a different material than what's in SU?

I just came across that. I'm modelling a house where there's different types of panels. Suddenly parts has begun to render with the incorrect material. I'm so far using just plain SU materials for the panels.

    Using VfSU v1.0.
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

    Re: Material contamination

I found the cause. I had two materials using the same texture. However, I had coloized one of them in SU, but that made both textures turn out colourized when rendered in V-Ray.

Is this with the current release or with one of the RCs?? I think this kind of thing should be sorted out much better in the RC version

That's with the current. I've had bad luck with the RC so I can't use it at the office as it's too unstable.
I could try this at my home computer which got the RC.

Try this with RC2 and see if that helps out. Since RC2 has better connect between vray mat info and SU mat info, it should be a non issue, but check it out just to make sure.

            Re: Material contamination

There was a bug about this a while ago. I believe we nailed it in our recent release candidates. The problem had to do with the texture files over writing each other when they were exported for the render. You shouldn't see that bug in the latest version.

              Re: Material contamination

Ok. Good to hear. I've yet not been able to test the RC2 fully as I keep getting "Incorrect Parameter" errors. That means I can't test it at work as I rely on SU so I can only test at home when I got spare time.

                thomthom,

I think I posted this on another thread, but if you are getting that error, please fill out a support ticket and include with it the build of sketchup that you are using.

                Thanks

                  Re: Material contamination

I've done that already. With example scenes.

                        Thomthom,

Thanks for posting the workaround for this- I've been pulling my hair out for 30 minutes trying to work out why a (coloured) grass texture has suddenly started rendering grayscale, but it was because I'd created another (graycale) texture with the same jpg. I haven't switched to SR1 yet as I'm in the middle of a big job! :'(
