  • weird render effects/Visual C++ runtime errors

    hi everybody. i've been using vray for SU for a while now and I love it. I have recently bought an nVidia 780i system, a 3Ghz core duo processor and 3G ddram2 specially for modelling and rendering SU. but I am really frustrated: a very complex 170+MB model doesn't render doe to Microsoft Visual C++ (unusual way something)runtime error (what is visual C++ anyway?) ok, I blamed it on the complexity of the model, wich gave me problems at my computer at work too. but all other renders came out like this:

    this weird green dotted shadow effect. AND this is jsut the first render. the second render gives more of the green stuff and by the third is almost a green image.

    any ideas?

    i'll owe you my job for this, thanks

    o, i use Vray for skup version 1.0 I think (the about tab only shows a "vray for rhino" image

    Visual C++ is the programming language that the V-Ray core is written in. The error you're seeing is most likely due to running out of memory.

    As for the image, it looks like a very odd energy preservation thing going on. Please try turning off the sun and sky as well as the physical camera to see how the rendering looks with just GI.

        Hi There, I've experienced this a few times, and it is usually caused by a CMYK bitmap in one of the materials.

        I hope that helps.

        Best regards,
        Gavin

                This thread is over a year old... Just thought I'd give everyone a heads up, in case they hadn't looked at the date.
