  • Problem with transparency map 01.05.03

Maybe is not a bug, maybe is just that I'm not good!
Anyway, I'm trying to create a material whit an extra texture for transparency,
    so using th alpha channel.
When I do that and I work on the option of the transparency bitmap, from VR interface, and changing multipler it happen that from the SU material windows the texture of the material I'm trying to create it just disappears and I have to relink the texure again.
Is that me? or did you guys have the same problem?
    Thank you in advance

Re: Problem with transparency map 01.05.03

    Hi Vinch,

To resolve this problem you should follow the following proceedures:

I- If you are using the latest release of Vray4SU:
    - Import the image (which you want to use as a tansparency map) into Su as a texture.
    - Apply the texture to your desired geometry.
in this case the SU material which is created will be automatically linked to Vray.
    - Open the Vray material editor and set the diffuse transperancy to complete white.
    - Add another diffuse layer to the material & use the transperancy map to the trans. slot in the new diffuse layer.

II - If you are using an older release of Vray4SU, you should do the above-mentioned; but in this case you should link the SU material to Vray manually.

I hope this resolves your problem.

    Regards,

      Hi Pacha!
      Thanks a lot for ansewering.
Actually I'm using the new release.
I'm going to try your metod.
I can anyway get the transparency on the material, but sometimes if I do some changes on the map(ex. scaling the map from SU materials windows) or if I changhe the multipler on the transparency channel, I can loose the texture and have to remap.
Anyway I'll try with the 2 layers you suggest me to use.generally I use one layer.
      Thank you
      Vincenzo
