  • transparency map problem

can someone check something out for me here, as the transparency map seems to be broken in the latest release (01.05.03).

create a new default material then change its transparency map to 255,255,255 i.e. white and it goes completely invisible as you would expect, now drop that down to 254,254,254 and you will see that it goes a solid black with no transparency at all. This seems to head back towards expected outcome the closer you get to the centre of the transparency slider.

or am I doing something wrong

Are you talking about an actual image for transparency or just changing the color? Its working as expected here, so maybe an image of what you're seeing would be helpful.

ok, after looking further into it, it seems that it actually still renders properly, its just the material preview that is borked, to replicate do the following (ill get an image up as soon as this massive render i'm doing is finished :P )

      1. create a new material, either via sketchup or vray
      2. in vray material editor, diffuse tab > transparency, move the transparency slider all the way to white (255,255,255), hit ok.
      3. preview material, it will be completely transparent as it should be.
      4. go back to diffuse tab > transparency, move the transparency slider one notch down to (254,254,254), hit ok.
      5. Preview material, it will be solid black and should be barely noticeable to how it was previously.

All that said its only a preview bug as the material will still render transparent, so its no biggy but preview has been useful to me.

The material preview, I see...The actual rendering though is still fine, so I'm not too worried. Its probably something peculiar in how that little scene is setup, and since that's going to be changing soon anyway, I'll just make sure that we check this with the new preview system.
