    Re: cannot render the scene...

Can you post the whole error message? It can provide important clues to what's going on.

As for the long time it takes before it begins to render, you can find some good information here: http://asgvis.com/index.php?option=c...0&topic=5470.0

Basically there are two things that generally makes the model take long time to parse:
    1. Materials applied to groups and components instead of the actual geometry.
    2. Deeply nested groups and components.

My models are often deeply nested. But I've yet had to un-nest them. Making sure materials are not applied to groups or components has been enough for me. I recommend you start with that first.

    Also: purge your model often.
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

The thing is that exploding nested groups and/or components isn't always that easy.
Ever tried it on a Xfrog tree?
It will symply crash your system (it does on my 8 core Mac Pro).
I think Asgvis needs to adress the parsing time thing.

The reason for using Vray is speed in the first place which makes test renders feasible.
With the long parsing time, the speed is gone.
I wish to introduce Vray in our Arch office, and I probably will...but I do hope that when license(s) are purchased, I can still obtain the old version.
I would prefer the new one with the great material editor, but I need the old fast launching time...

Currently we run Maxwell at our office and I need reasons to convince the directors to go Vray. And speed is the biggest reason...wouldn't you agree?

        Re: cannot render the scene...

Yea, I'm painfully aware of what exploding an xfrog tree does to the poor computer.
(I'm wondering if it'd be better to make a script that rebuild a copy instead of exploding it would work better...)

And I agree that this parsing time is far from ideal. I also prefer VRay due to it's quick render times.

Though, with new models the parsing time isn't that big of a deal. It's worse when I have to force an old model through V-Ray. Then anything can go haywire.

          hi guies,
i tried script to reduce parsing time ,but still problem occurs i am attaching the screen shot of the error page.....help me thank you...

            Re: cannot render the scene...

hm... I think the ASGvis support team has to deal with this. Place an official support ticked on the issue. If you can upload it somewhere they can download the model to investigate.

              Re: cannot render the scene...

That's a memory issue. You've got what looks like a huge scene there and likely a significant amount (either by number or resolution) of textures. There's only a certain amount of memory available, and the scene with SU takes up a certain amount of memory itself. My advice would be to find a way to hide some of the geometry that you don't need or reduce the resolution of some of the textures if possible.

thank you guise for your support....i will try to reduce maximum amount of geometry ...and try to upload the su file...thank you, once more.

                  Would smaller buckets help?

                    Re: cannot render the scene...

Although smaller buckets do decrease the amount of memory that will be used, it doesn't really do so in a very significant manner. If an image gets through some renders and doesn't in others, then decreasing the bucket size may help with saving that little bit of memory. In this case the crash is happening just after V-Ray recieves the "raw" geometry, but before its fully compiled into its optimized scene structure...so bucket size really isn't even coming into play yet
