  • Loosing Materials

    Hey,

I have been having this issue again and again and I cant seem to find on the forum any solutions so Ill ask the question.

Im having a problem where my materials reset to default. It does not matter if its a simple diffuse colour, it will reset, or if its a complex texture with maps and reflections, they all seem to reset.

When I lose the textures/colours is when I open my SKP file. I then reset all my textures save my model. close SU, re-open SU and its all default grey.

I have all the latest updates of SU and Vray, but cant seem to get anywhere with this issue.

    Any Ideas?

    Thanks

    Re: Loosing Materials

There's a known bug with VfSU not saving material settings if you haven't made any changes to the VfSU options settings. In fact all you have to do is open and close the options editor and the material settings should be saved.

The thread discussing this is here in forum, but probably buried a bit...Still not sure why this happens, but we'll work it out during the development process for the next version

There won't be a fix for this version?
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

No...all development currently underway is for the next FULL version of VfSU.

I can't give any hints because I don't know when it will be released. At this point we still haven't progressed far enough into the development process to begin throwing dates around. Wait till you guys have a beta to play with, then we can start thinking about dates.

                Re: Loosing Materials

Most of the problem with materials that I have noticed is not so much in loosing the material totally.... Say I have a diffuse of a material set to a texture for a wood floor. Everything stays just fine except for the scale of the image file. The next time I open up the Sketchup model the wood floor material is very small. When I go look at the image properties under the Sketchup materials the image scale is almost always set to 10"....when in reality it should be set to, say, 24" for that particular material. The other wierd part about it is that the material may change scale one day when I open the file and then the next two times I open the file they stay put. Anyone else run into this issue? Is there something I should be doing differently when I create my textures? Maybe a certain pixel dimension or dpi that I should always stick with?
