  • Demo Install Unhandled Exception Error

    hello,

I'm trying to install the demo of Vray for SketchUp 7

    I get this

    "unhandled exception error

    error number 0x80040708
description 0x80004002 No Such Interface Supported

    setup will now terminate."
any help? ??? ??? ??? I have XP Pro and SketchUp Pro 7

Re: Demo Install Unhandled Exception Error

The only thing that I could think is an issue with this is that the SU install path, which is retrieved from the registry, is not in the correct location or not there at all. Have you run a registry cleaner since you installed SU7? Although I don't think it should be an issue, did you install SU7 into a different folder?

My only suggestion at the moment would be to reinstall SU7 and make sure that it has access to the registry. This means running the installer as an administrator.

well SketchUp is installed in a strange directory, but the install never gets to that point, it never even gets to the directory portion, as it loads the setup file it errors.

does the setup not ask for a directory?

Re: Demo Install Unhandled Exception Error

Not the installer for SU7. SU7 stores the location in the registry which the installer gets its info from.
But SU6 doesn't so the installer have to prompt you.

Note that there's separate installers for SU6 and SU7. Make sure you have the correct one.
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

both Vray for SU6 and Vray for SU7 fail at the same point with the same error...

SU was installed with Admin rights.
