  • License server crash

    Hi,

We have licenses of V-ray for sketchup on a floating license on our main server, but it would appear that the floating license manager keeps crashing. We have installed the latest version of V-ray for sketchup but it doesnt to have made any effect whats so ever.

    Any Ideas welcome

    Thanks

    Re: License server crash

From that information its very hard to know exactly what's causing the crashes. Were there any recent software/driver updates that were done on the machine other than V-Ray. Does the crash happen when a request is made? when a license is release? or randomly?

      Re: License server crash

There have not been any updates to the servers both software or driver. With regard to your question relating to crashing happening when a request is made this partially happens, in that the license server manager will already be closed when a user logins into sketchup/V-ray, for example if left overnight. When I re-boot both the license server and sketchup/V-ray the request seems to crash the license server manager. It does happen randomly, but mostly recently this has been happen serveral times a day

      Kind regards,

        Re: License server crash

I have a similar problem with the VRAY for Rhino license server on a Win2003 box: the license server process intermittently freezes up and refuses to hand out licenses. I have to manually terminate and relaunch the license server process every so often.
The VRAY license server 2 log indicates that there are new client connections but no "currently attached clients" are listed and the "license in use" reports "---". This is the same no matter whether the server is successfully handing out licenses or not. Any ideas?
On another note, is it possible to set up the license server process as a service that starts on bootup and logs errors to a log file?
