Uuuugh, this new forum software is driving me crazy!

Long replies make the text window jump up and down every time you type a character, "Preview" reply no longer works ("fetching preview" message pops up indefinitely instead) and "Insert Quote" doesn't work! >

Same behaviour on 2 different machines one running IE6 and Mozilla, one running IE8.

Just me?

I can confirm Preview isn't working.

Also "Insert Quote" (Didn't really work on last version as it'd always quote the whole post - not just the selection)

But I see no jumping of the text window.

On my Safari, Win XP

Preview: works fine
Jumps on text writing: none
Insert Quote: Doesn't work

Not even on very long replies?

No... I tried filling the textbox with lots and lots of text (Ctrl+C - Ctrl+Vx100) and still didn't see anything.

I was going to ask if I was the only one who wasn't seeing a preview, but I guess I'm not.

If I click Quote from the thread than I get a quote fine (although it kicks me to a reply without the side widgets), but once I've started a reply the Insert Quote option does not work.

I have not seen the jumping

I'll point Corey to this thread and see what he can do.

I am looking into this for you all I am not sure how long I actually have to type for to see if there is jumping going on with the text box but i will go ahead and keep typing just to see if i can get it to jump. I'll also check the preview out I can probably have that fixed pretty quick but the jumping I am not sure what I can do about that. But of course I will do my best so that we can avoid unhappy customers and forums users. It's never fun to see the angry or sad emoticons popping up in the forums. We are supposed to make your life easier not harder. But then again we are only human. Jackson, how long of a post should I try? Is your post more that say 500 words? Can you send me a link to a post that you know that you had issues with? I still do not see any jumping yet. Let me check the preview. Fetching preview... that's what I see...but the preview never shows up. Let me try the Insert Quote option.

I am not sure that the quote option is supposed to do anything other than provide the tag after you have already hit reply. I better find another SMF forum to test this on. But...no jumping for me on Firefox and Mac OSX.

I think I fixed the Preview. Let's test then I'll have a look at the other issues. PREVIEW is fixed.

Please keep us posted on any other issues.

I am not sure that the quote option is supposed to do anything other than provide the tag after you have already hit reply. I better find another SMF forum to test this on. But...no jumping for me on Firefox and Mac OSX

Before it used to insert the test of the post you wanted to quote. All though most other forums I use (not sure if they run SMF) will allow you to select portion of the text. Very useful for when you only want to reply to part of a long post.

Preview working fine now, that's great.

I can't replicate the jumping text window (typical!)- I thought it maybe had something to do with quotes or embedded images, but the above test post is behaving as it should.... a mystery. :-\

I agree 100% with Thom re: quotes- this is the only forum I've seen where "Insert quote" adds the entire text to your reply and then you have to edit it down to the pertinent parts. When quoting multiple authors it becomes more editing than writing. Usually you just highlight the text you want and then hit "Insert Quote".
