  • Hidden lights will not render....?

    XP Pro - SketchUp 7.1.6860 - V-Ray 1.48.66

Hidden Lights is "checked" in Global Settings. If I hide any light (Omni or Rectangular) it will not render. Is there another setting I need to change?

    Confused Noob ???

How are you hiding the light? Via SU 'Hide' command or via vray light editor and enabling 'invisible' ?

Do not see an "invisible" option in my V-Ray light editor for my Omni Lights...only Enable or Shadows "check boxes" + the other light controls.

Right click on light > Hide (in SU)

Thats the way I do it. Have not tried putting V-Ray lights on a separate layer & making it invisible?

      Thoughts???

Re: Hidden lights will not render....?

Rectangular light and Omni light behaving differently.

Omni light- is invisible (hidden) always and won't be seen in the render output. Only the light he emitted will be seen.

Rectangular Light- is visible visually in the render output (as a rectangular) and this is by default. To 'hide' rectangular light in the rendered output and to see only it's light there's an option in edit light menu named 'Invisible', enabling it will hide it.

Note: By 'Hiding' vray light geometry via Sketchup's 'hide' command you exclude the light from being rendered at all.

I hope that it makes scenes.

Re: Hidden lights will not render....?

Neither Omni nor Rectangular are visible in my Rendered output. I am trying to hide them in my Model, use the "show hidden geometry" in my Model, then Render without having to unhide & hide them every time.

I will check the invisible setting for Rectangular Lights you mentioned. I'm new to V-Ray, done lots of reading on forums & tutorials, still a little confusing with sooooooo many settings & options in V-Ray. I assumed settings for Omni & Rectangular would be the same for options, but maybe not.

          TY...will try your options

Yup, you found a bug, thank you! I'll try to work on that some time today.
