Hi! Can i also get on the list please? I've been learning to use 1.05.30 at my school but i understand it's quite old. Ive been having a hard time with that version and would like to try my luck with the new one. Hoping to purchase the latest release when it comes!

      Regards,
      K.

KATERINAGLOU - Yes, the 1.05.30 version became outdated last April when we released 1.48.66. We have since updated to 1.48.83, and finally 1.48.89. You can actually download the full release version of 1.48.89 from our site without being a beta tester. Upgrades are free! I have also added you to the beta testing group so will have access to the beta forum, and you can play around with the latest beta, and give us any feedback you may have about it.

BAVEMAND- Welcome You've been added to the beta testing group, you should now see a beta testing forum. That's where you want to go to find the latest beta version.

RHINOFEROCE- Fantastic, another multi-platform tester. We're always glad to have folks who can test both sides of the fence. Head on over to the beta testing forum to get your hands on the latest beta

Can I be a tester please? I'm working on Mac OSX and want to check it with Sketch-up 8.
What’s in the new release? Any chance of a new tile procedure map with a random seeded fade variance to each tile (like in 3D studio)? and a way to preview bump, opacity or displacement UVW mapping within the viewport would be useful?

ed. Also, if the current beta is the public release 1.48.89 (see comments above, 17th Jan), then I think there may be some bugs on the licensing utility? I can’t get it to work at all. In fact, I found this string by searching for others with similar issues. See

ROB_FROM_BATH - Currently the beta and the public release are the same version. The latest public release is 1.49.01, and it was released a couple weeks ago. I've added you as a beta tester, so you'll be able to get your hands on new beta builds as they come out. We'll probably have a new beta version within a week or so. We don't plan on turning SketchUp in to 3D Studio Max. We rely on the host application to provide us with UVW Mapping, and any viewport related tools for the most part. Typically "new" features that we add, are existing features in the V-Ray sdk.

TThanks for your reply. Glad to help with the testing if I can.

Does 1.49.01 work with sketch up 8 and OSX? - I struggled with it last night but may well have been doing something stupid.

RE: UVW mapping. Fair enough using the host application to drive the overall mapping, it would just be helpful to preview how the bump/opacity/displacement maps lie on a surface if they are a different map to the diffuse map being used? I’m currently swapping them over manually in the Vray material editor to see how the lie on a surface, (and manually copying the tile settings back), but its ok – it works.

                              Thanks again

Indeed it does, if you get stuck, try shooting an email over to support@asgvis.com

Understood, we would like to make it easier to see things in the viewport, but as of yet we have been unable to find a way to really do it in a useful way. We will continue to try to make the user experience easier, your feedback as a tester will help us achieve that goal
