  • VfSU 1.48.66 not rendering all the lights

So I am at my wit's end. I built an entire scene for a client and put in a whole number of lights, floods and omnis. When I render all the materials look just right including transparency maps and displacement maps, but most of the lights don't work right. Either they point in the wrong direction, they don't show up, they won't fade the shadows. I have done all the directionals correct and settings correct, but nothing seems to work.

    I need help.

How do you set up lights so that they work with DMC?

Hmm, it sounds to me like perhaps you were rotating/moving the actual geometry for the lights, rather than the group. Our information relies on the group's transform information, not the actual geometry itself. At least as far as the issue with the lights pointing in the wrong direction/not showing up. Not sure about the fading shadow thing you mentioned, but it could be due to the light not transforming properly.

      Hi,

This is Keith Thompson I have been trying to get in touch with you. I am very glad to see that you got it activated. Should I stop trying to call you?

Keith, sorry about that and yes I was able to get the software to "work". Kind of buggy and crashes much more than expected.

As fas as the geometry question, I have never actually opened the group to change anything. I rotate, move and scale all from outside the group. I put each type of light into the component with the geometry for the light itself (no solid enclosures, either frosted glass or track lighting heads), I then usually select and make changes through the Outliner menu.
