  • losing changes to materials - v.1.48.66

    Sketchup 7.1.6860 Pro
    V-Ray plugin 1.48.66
    Windows 7 ultimate

I have an issue where my changes to materials are not saved with the model. In other words when I reopen the model all the layers (reflection, bumpmap etc) in my materials are reset and aren't saved. Only the diffuse settings are kept.

I have tried the workarounds as suggested by others on the forum (for an earlier version of the plugin???, should these also work for the latest version?)
    - by making changes to the material and then opening and closing the options window (also tried making a change in the options window before closing).
    - I've tried to first create a sketchup material, and then making changes in the vray material editor (also with opening and closing the options window).
    - saving out to a different file.

The material settings are lost for even the simplest model (in other words it never works for me). Luckily I save my materials as .vismat files and can re-import each material every time I (re)open the file. But it is quite frustrating to create a nice render (with a lot of materials) - only to discover when you reopen the file that all the material settings are lost.

All the visopt settings are saved with the model.

Is this a known issue? I'm sorry if this is something that commonly known in the community - i have tried everything that I could find in the forum.

Does anyone know a workaround for this version of Sketchup/plugin?

This is a known issue that is fixed in the current beta. As soon as we feel comfortable with it will be released it to the general public.

    Thank you for your patience.

Can you please post this patch as soon as possible, I find it agonizing to replace every material every render.

Understood. Our current beta is looking fairly stable, and might be ready for release soon. If you would like to check it out and give us feedback about it, you can sign up here: http://forum.asgvis.com/index.php?topic=7679 << The Mighty Bug Hunt! Otherwise, hang in there, we should have a patch soon.

Re: losing changes to materials - v.1.48.66

I have version 1.48.89 and I am experiencing this bug sometimes.
As told before, only the diffuse layer is kept, the rest is lost.
              Really annoying.

Hi, I am having the same problem. Is there a patch available as yet? I am using the current version of VFSU as far as I am aware.

                Cheers....Scotty

Re: losing changes to materials - v.1.48.66

in 1.48.91 (latest beta) we fixed an issue that can cause all the layers except for diffuse to be lost when a layered material is used in two 2-sided materials in the same scene. It seems that the 2-sided material was holding on to some information that it shouldn't have been, and it was causing a conflict with the existing material. Sometimes the layered material gets lost and replaced with the weird material info that's in the 2-sided material. .91 is still pretty unstable, but hopefully there will be an update soon to resolve this issue once and for all.

I'm having the same problem. Every time I open up a model the material layers are gone and I have to reload them in the material editor. Any news on this issue?

I am using the older version 01.05.30 and i'm experiencing the same issue, any suggestions? It seem though that settings will stay once i do a complete render and then save the file, going to run a test right now.

Ok, test done and it seems like for version 01.05.30 at least - any new vray material edits that i do is retained after i complete a render and save the file.

Yea - known issue with 1.05.30 - after making material changes - open the Options window before saving the file. If you do not do that the material changes are lost.
