Im in charge of finding the new rendering software for my 3D design company to go with and am having a few major issues with V-ray in Sketchup 7.1.6 pro on my Macbook Pro OS X 10.6.3. First and most annoyingly, when V-ray is enabled, sketchup acts like the command key is held down and on the top layer of whatever software is open. For example, as I'm typing this, Sketchup is acting like im pressing all these keys in sketchup, selecting tools, moving around, etc. When i open a new browser window (command + N) it opens a new model in Sketchup. When i close a browser window, it acts like i'm trying to close the current model. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Vray and have no change. When i disable the V-ray plugin, sketchup returns to its normal state of proper operation. I've restarted my computer, ran permission checks, etc. I also uninstalled manually via the forum guide with no change.
second, im going through the tutorial guide with the model of 3 chairs, and when first rendering i do not get the "grey" output image. The direction the Sketchup sun is angled creates a harsh, sharp shadow unless "Show GI only" is enabled. I've tried disableing shadows and sun in Sketchup with no result. I've reloaded the default presets for Vray multiple times as well on each re-installation.
We really want to give this software a good shot and hope it will work for us, but currently it simply is not working.
