  • Vray Rec. Light Intensity changes from version to version...

This isn't really the kind of issue that needs visuals to back up, it's THAT self-explanatory. I have the original V-ray 6.10...whatever...and i also have a demo of the 1.05.30 version. I have a need to re-open and re-render older models, models that I built in the original release. When I open them in the 1.05.30 version, everything including lights is still in tact, but whenever I render, the light intensity is significantly lower. Recessed lights that once were quite bright now have become very dim. Is there any general idea that accounts for this? Render settings are the same.

I know this isn't much information, but it's irritating. The 6.10 version renders lights the way I want but as most know, has a hard time importing new vismats (I always get the error message, not a valid ASGVIS material). The 1.05.30 version accepts all the materials in the world but like mentioned above, for some reason doesn't render lights well.

Should I just stick to the updated version and re-draw all the lights? I don't mind doing the latter, but I could honestly use some advice. Again, I realize it's not alot of information, but a snap-suggestion would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried checking/unchecking Default Light? I find that adjusting this some times sorts of the differences.
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

I believe you should be able to edit lights by right clicking them in the outliner as well, so you don't have to hunt around your entire scene trying to find all of your lights. Now about the version numbers you mentioned... There isn't a version 6.10 or anything close to it. We are at 1.48.89 right now. So it's hard to tell if you're talking about going from 1.05.30 (which is pretty old) to 1.48.66 (which was a complete rewrite of our plugin) or later, or if you're talking about going from 1.0 (which is ancient) to 1.05.30. I don't know how much of a difference it will make for troubleshooting, but it might help someone like thomthom or fernando sort the problem out a little easier.
