  • Displacement - Use Globals

Un-checking "Use Globals" within the displacement section of the Maps roll out of a material does not remove the material from the control of the "default displacement" settings within the V-Ray option editor.

The only solution is to un-check the "override on" within the "default displacement" settings within the V-Ray option editor.

Unless "Use Globals" is not what I thought it was?

    Hi
If "override on" in the "Default displacement" rollout is enabled, this will override any displacement setting, even if "use global is enabled". So, to be able to use the displacement setting per materials, you have to disable the "override on" and enable "use global" in the materials. I understand, this is a bit confusing, because you expect that if "use global" is enable, this should override the default displacement. We may change this behavior in a future.

    thanks

Thanks Fernando, it is a bit counterintuitive as that works the opposite of the override material checkbox which lets you clay render everything but glass, for example. It would be good to be able to opt out of displacement as well on a material by material basis.
