  • Sketchup Crash while using DR with 2.00.26494 update

Does anyone else have the problem of Sketchup 15 64bit crashing while using Distributed Render with the new 2.00.26494 update ? I reverted back to the old version of Vray and it works perfectly.

Yes, we have run into this issue - it has been fixed in our nightly builds and we will have to post a minor update at some point in the near future that has this fix in it. If you need DR right away contact support@chaosgroup.com for nightly access

I tried loading the2.00.26494 update into Sketchup 2015 64 Bit, and removed the older version and put nothing in its place. It created a Sketchup 2016 folder with the plugins even though I have not downloaded 2016 yet. How did you get your update to load in 2015?

Are you sure you downloaded the installer for 2015? We have separate installers for the different versions of sketchup

I forgot to include that my OS is OSX Yosemite. I dont see an OSX version for this update tagged 2015. I may just load 2016 Sketchup. Thanks for the reply

The build is called "sketchup_2015_osx" - it looks like it might have been accidentally placed in the 32bit section of the downloads area, so that is probably why you didn't see it. We'll fix this

I emailed support for Nightly access with no response. Any other ideas on how to achieve access to a stable build for 2016?

I emailed chaos group and got an updated build (VRayForSketchUp-2.00.26516-adv-2016-x64-windows-installer.exe)
I installed it, launched Sketch up and I got few errors on start up, VRAY never loaded.
my question to Chaos group, how can they release this update with such a huge bug?
Distributed Rendering is one of the main parts of my daily work flow.
I also cant believe that there isn't a larger amount of SU/VRAY users complaining about this
                  this is an outrage

I was wondering the same thing about nobody else bringing it up...

                      this is almost unacceptable...
and it sounds like there is no fix coming anytime soon
based on what Joe B said

I am truly sorry for the inconvenience, and I agree it is unacceptable. There is a planned patch that we should be releasing in the next couple of weeks. If the nightly build did not resolve your issue, please let me know what problem you are still having and I will do my best to address it immediately.
                        Best regards,

Not only this crash behaviour when running DR. I can't remove servers from DR Hosts list.

odd - I haven't heard this issue before. I'll see if I can reproduce it on my end. Are you on Windows or OSX? Also - if you go to V-Ray -> Debugging -> Open Debug Window - do you see any output in there that looks like error messages? Thanks
                            Best regards,

Could you please give me an estimate time of arrival since you talked about the next couple of weeks? I always get the feeling V-Ray for Sketchup is the least important version for you guys since ASGVis is gone. Same with having to pay for 2.xx update after 1.xx but never succeeded in delivering a stable final version of 1.xx to the customers. I always was beta.

The 2.0 is an improvement but I think we're on the same road again. DR is bugged again, there will never be a good patch and before you know it you have to either use an older 2.xx or pay for a 3.xx update.

Maybe it sounds a bit rude but like someone said, it's not acceptable. Couple of weeks are almost a month. I'm lucky I don't need V-Ray for work but it became a pretty expensive hobby for me. With this kind of support I don't have the feeling you guys take customers seriously. I doesn't happen often I pay this much for some software and if I do I want some support. And really, in the old days of ASGVis there was support. Not a personal attack on you, don't think you plan the stuff you work on, but as chaos group it's better to keep the people informed.

The latest news at the homepage is being closed at the holidays. Well, it's 2016 now, people want their DR Spawner back.
