  • Problem with SU vs Vray materials

I have experienced an issue with texture-based materials as follows:

    1. Create new texture by importing JPG (in model folder) & apply to scene
    2. Found texture colour not quite right, so adjusted it in SU material editor
    3. VRay ignores change.

Likewise, updates in the Vray material editor are not reflected in the model.

    So,

    4. returned to SU, and loaded material into external editor (Photoshop) made adjustments and closed.
    5. Render out, and not only does the render show the unedited material colour, it actually also put the old version of the material back into the model!

    6. 'Undo' in SU to restore the edited material. Located the original JPG file, moved it out of the model folder to another location.
    7. Vray renders correctly.

    This can't be right surely...?

I am not at liberty to post the model unfortunately.

    I have SU2017, Vray 3.40.01, Windows 10, Nvidia M4000.
    Hardware:
    Core i7 6850
    Nvidia M4000

    Hello,

Currently, colorizing a material with diffuse texture through the SketchUp Material editor will not affect the corresponding V-Ray material unless you delete/move the image file used as texture.
Although we do not support this kind of workflow, our developers are aware of the limitation and are currently planning on addressing it one of the upcoming updates.

    Kind regards,

OK, thanks for the information. I have just migrated from Shaderlight, which supported this workflow, so it seemed natural to expect it. I look forward to the update to functionality.

      regards
