  • Bugsplat when importing alembic file

    Hi

I made a tree using Sapling addon in Blender(Which could generate animated trees),and export an alembic file(72 frames)
Click image for larger version Name:	0dce97d570ce777967c38e2b24c2f8c8.gif Views:	1 Size:	1,001.1 KB ID:	969987

I want to animate the tree in Vray for Sketchup, so I import alembic file with Vrproxy importer

Actually I can import the tree
Click image for larger version Name:	Sapling Sketchup.jpg Views:	1 Size:	25.3 KB ID:	969988

But when I hit render,It crash

I could already import a simple cube and animate it,but no have no luck with a tree

Is there any info about how large a file Sketchup could handle with?

    Thank you very much

      Hello,

Animated proxies are not supported in V-Ray 3.4 for SketchUp. This, however, does not mean it should crash upon rendering. We're adding animation controls to proxy objects in the upcoming v3.6. Will double-check your file in our internal builds to see if I can reproduce the bugsplat in any way.
      Thank you for reporting this!

        Hi,Peter

It is a great news that we could have better animated proxy control

The only problem I have now is vrproxy export from blender is extremly slow.. so I'm really curious about will Vray add better alembic file support?

        just my 2 cents

Proxy support in general has been improved in v3.60.01.
We know certain animated .abc files might still crash SketchUp upon being imported. If you happen to reproduce this, please send us an email at support@chaosgroup.com . Any step-by-step description of the creation process of such problematic .abc files would help us tremendously!

          Kind regards,
