  • SU 2018 and Vray 3.60.01 - toolbar location will not save between sessions.

I cannot get Sketchup to 'remember' the vray toolbar location. The toolbars always load back into the work-area (see image attached).

Before I finally uninstalled vray for sketchup, none of my sketchup toolbars would stay in the toolbar area, so pretty certain its something vray related.

I then reinstalled vray for sketchup and have the same issue - but only with vray's tools.

I installed with 'run as admin', even though I have admin rights, just to be certain there was nothing related. The problem seems to be the same.

    Hello, Brett,

The V-Ray toolbars usually reset their position only after a crash.
Normally, you would need to save the SketchUp project you have currently opened after reorganizing your toolbars. This way the change will stick.
Let me know if that solves the problem for you!

    Kind regards,
    Peter

      Hi Peter,

Thanks for the reply, but in this case the toolbars will not save at all. What's interesting is, if I rearrange other toolbar items (turn some on that were off and locate them into the top toolbar for example), they will not save their new location either... until I uninstall vray for sketchup.
Once I do that, I can rearrange toolbars and their new locations will be remembered.

As soon as I reinstall vray for sketchup, the no-save behavior returns.

I've tried running the installer as my 'regular' username which has Admin rights on my local network machine and I've tried running the installer with "run as Administrator'. Doesn't make a difference.

One other thing I've noticed: If I have a window of some other app -- like a windows explorer window - open and place it behind Sketchup, when I start sketchup the app's screen comes to the front and draws out the base area into which the various toolbars are going to be loaded into. Right *before* the toolbars load, the background window will jump to the fore. Then sketchup displays the toolbars into their assigned slots... except vray's toolbars, which are once again 'loose' as in my original screenshot.

          Thank you for your reply!
Based on the info, this might be caused by V-Ray quitting improperly when SketchUp is closed. Our developers are notified. I'll get back to both of you as soon as we have a solution.
In the meantime, if anyone else is experiencing the same toolbar behavior, please send me a PM or email at support@chaosgroup.com

          Kind regards,
          Peter
