  • How can I export ALL my custom made Vray materials from one sketchup file to another?

    Hi

Could someone please guide me how I can move ALL the custome made (specific to the sketchup model) vray materials (vrmats) from one sketchup file to another. I have looked everywhere and cannot find this option. Earlier, in vray version previous to v2.0 this option existed in the right-click menu to pack all materials. Where has the option gone now, in v3.60.03... Please help. Thanks.

Have you tried "Eneroth Material Extractor" extension?

Yes, however it does not extract vray-specific settings like reflection/ refraction/ bump/ displacement etc.

It just extracts the core diffuse map and basic settings for opacity and color.

I am sure there must be a way. It is so mundane and important !! Lol..

Waiting for a reply please !!

Look for my GIF, this extension works well with reflection/refraction etc.

Let's say you have two SketchUp files - Project_A.skp and Project_B.skp.
If your aim is to import all V-Ray materials from A to B, them do the following:

          1. Open Project_B.skp and the V-Ray Asset Editor
          2. Use File > Import > Project_A.skp and place it within the viewport
          3. Check the Asset Editor's Material list - both projects' materials should be listed.
          4. Delete Project_A's component through the SketchUp Components tray panel (either manually or use the "Purge Unused" option from the panel's Details button)
          5. The Project_A materials will remain. Keep in mind they will be removed if you use Purge Materials or SketchUp's Window > Model Info > Purge Unused as they are not associated with any geometry until manually applied.

Depending on how you wish to organize your file assets, you may want to use Extensions > V-Ray > File Path Editor, to archive&repath all associated assets to a new location.

Multiple .vrmat export functionality as well as enhanced material library will be introduced with V-Ray Next for SketchUp.

          Kind regards,
          Peter
