  • How to do an invisible person but seen on reflection?

    Hi All,

    first of all thanks to all the vray support team, you're great and always answer reasonable queries.

    I have the following project: it is an installation of mirrors creating an infinitive mirror effect.
    I am creating a 360 degrees visual and I would like to have a person in the middle and see the person reflected on the mirrors but not rendered in the rest of the image.
    Is that feasible?
    Any idea how to do the person invisible to the camera but no to the mirrors? :S

    thanks!

    Hello,

    Thank you for your post. What you can do to achieve that result is to use Override Material. With its help you define where your geometry is visible.
    https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...7C+MtlOverride.

    You can use the following workflow:
    1. Create a Generic mtl, set its Opacity to 0;
    2. Create an Override mtl;
    3. In Override mtl > Slot Generic mtl in Base Material;
    4. In Override mtl > For Shadows, Reflection and Refraction use the original object material;
    5. Righ-click on the Override mtl > Use as replacement and then right-click on the object material and choose replace.

    Let me know if you need any further information.

    Kind regards,
    Natali
