Am I correct to assume that VRay 3.6 is never going to be compatible with SketchUp 2019? I am considering upgrading from SketchUp 2016, but I'm thinking that would also require upgrading to V Ray Next as well, is that correct? This is becoming an expensive situation...

V-Ray Next is compatible with SketchUp 2016, 2017, 2018 as well as 2019.
A V-Ray 3.6 update with SketchUp 2019 compatibility is being considered but it may take some time. Stay tuned.
Kind regards,
Peter

Hello, Marlena,
After careful consideration a decision has been reached - only V-Ray Next (v4.0) is available for SketchUp 2019. V-Ray 3 is no longer in active development.
Kind regards,

Hey Peter,
After careful consideration, I'm really pissed off that you wanna charge me $400 to upgrade a Vray license I just bought in the middle of November. Now I can't upgrade sketchup without paying $400......on top of the $800 i JUST PAYED. That's $1200 for a brand new license...more than I just paid for a Vray for Max license....and is COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS.Core i7-8700K @ 5 GHz, Kraken X72, Asus - ROG MAXIMUS X CODE, Trident Z 64 GB @ 3000 MHz, 2x Samsung - 970 Evo, 2x EVGA - GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, Phanteks - Evolv X, SeaSonic - PRIME Ultra Titanium 1000 W, CyberPower - CP1500PFCLCD, 2x BenQ - PD3200Q, 2x Loctek D7L Monitor Arms, Corsair - K70 LUX RGB, 3Dconnexion SpaceMouse, Logitech - G602

V-Ray Next is available for SketchUp 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. Whether installed on SketchUp 2016 or 2019 the product is identical.
The dev team has put a lot of effort in the latest major release bringing major base speed improvements on top of new features such as redesigned asset management, new texture utility tools, vrscene-to-skp import and more workflow optimizations such as with auto-exposure, auto-WB and adaptive Dome lights. For a full list of the changes, please visit:

As a former employee of Chaos Group and active V-Ray user, this is a pretty shitty business approach from a users point of view Peter.Chaushev
