Hi, in vray 3.6 there was a eye button on the left bottom of the preview and by clicking it we can see the image in the sketchup viewport.. I couldn't find a way to do that in vray next.. Is there any way? When i use a sketchup solid color to the diffuse and want to use a reflection or bump map, i need that option..

Since the addition of the texture instancing functionality the "display in viewport" option is now moved entirely in the Material settings window under the "Binding" rollout:
https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...eneric-Binding
With Auto mode, the main V-Ray material texture (e.g. Diffuse texture) will be synched with the corresponding SketchUp material displayed in the viewport.
Set the Texture Mode to Custom if you wish to use any other textures. You can simply drag and drop any map from the Assets list directly into the 'Custom' texture slot.
The dev team is exploring some ideas how to simplify this functionality. Any feedback on this matter would be appreciated!
Kind regards,

I actually thought that eyeball button was really simple + effective. At first I thought that the functionality was completely removed until I saw this post. I suppose I like the possibility that you could input a custom texture that was completely other than a bitmap found in material settings, but I cannot think of an example where I would need that capability.

Thank you for your feedback!
As I mentioned in my previous post, the removal of the "Show in viewport" eye button was due to the introduction of texture instancing. Having a texture referenced in multiple assets could not work in a robust way with the "Show in viewport" action.
The dev team wants to bring back the same level of simplicity either by reintroducing the button with improved underlying functionality or create a similar single-click solution. No ETA yet, likely one of the upcoming minor updates.

Hi everyone, i'm experiencing a similar issue. I have Vray Next fo Sketchup v4.00.02, and it seems that when i try to use the binding option nothing happend: i tried instancing the textur or copying it, i've even tried to load it from scratch. I would use binding to place, via sketchup texture subfuncion, reflective, opacity or bump maps in order to prevent tiling.
It also seems that my interface is different from the one shown in Chaos Group helps doc (se the attachment below)
Best Regards
Andrea

Hello, Andrea,
As I've mentioned in our previous conversation, the issue you have illustrated is most likely caused by either an outdated or incompatible V-Ray settings file (.vropt). The data responsible for what "Binding" layout is displayed is stored not in each individual material asset but in the V-Ray settings stored in the project or loaded from an external .vropt file.
Please see if restoring the default V-Ray settings resolves your problem. This can be done via the button at the bottom-right corner of the Asset Editor's Settings tab.
If you require further assistance, please follow up on my private message.
Kind regards,

I'm sorry, for the inconvenience of responding in two different posts, i'm new to the community so i didn't notice your private answer, so thanks for your help!
Your solution seems to resolve partially the issue, in fact loading the default vropt the binding submenu returns to normal as it shown in Chaos group helps docs.
Altough it won't resolve texturing problems. While with 3.6 "eyeball button" shows the real tiling of the associated map so you can modify its mapping within sketchup, Vray Next seems to only replace the "texture helper" map with the one you specify in the binding slot but it has no relations with the actual map.
For example, in the two images below i need to enlarge the opacity texture in order to prevent tiling, With the opacity texture copied as instance in the binding box, in viewport all seems correctly mapped beacuse it pics the measure of the texture, but when i render the real measure of the texture is different.

Apologies for the delayed response!
By default, the V-Ray material's Diffuse color and texture are automatically synchronized with the material in SketchUp and thus displayed in the SketchUp viewport. If the Diffuse texture in V-Ray is a Bitmap texture, it will directly be displayed in SketchUp. If it is any other texture type, a "Texture Helper" will be used instead.
The functionality of the "eye" button in V-Ray 3.6 has not been removed. V-Ray renders the texture tiling as it appears in SketchUp's viewport both when automatic binding is used or a texture is manually placed in the custom binding slot.
I'm afraid I cannot determine the cause of the behavior you have illustrated based on the presented info. For assistance, please send the project for investigation to support@chaosgroup.com (include this forum thread as reference). We'll get back to you as soon as we receive it.
If you have not submitted scenes to our Support team before, all you have to do is copy your project, then open the copy and delete everything not related to the erroneous behavior. Once done, save the file and use Extensions > V-Ray > Pack Project to create an archive which can then be safely sent via email or a file-sharing service of your choice.
Kind regards,
