  • Swarm System Soft Crash

So I emailed support about this Last week ago and wanted to ask the forum as well. See if anyone else is running into this.

    My problem is as follows:

I'm having an issue where I launch a rendering using swarm and my renderings never finish. The render will start up, I will see all my networked computers kick off and start rendering, 100% CPU usage across the board, and my ram will ramp up to between 15 and 20gb. Shortly after this initial launch, My main computer will stall and CPU Usage drops to 10%, but all the ram allocated for the render stays in use and this persists through the remainder of the rendering until I stop it. This odd behavior has been a regular occurrence in the scene with BF/LC, BF/BF using both progressive and bucket rendering. I get the furthest along with BF/LC but the issue ends up happening when the bucket rendering begins. I initially assumed it was a memory issue, and I was running out of ram, but after cleaning the scene, turning off Displacement, Fur, etc it would still persist and with such a small scene and with 64gb per machine I can't imagine running out of ram is the problem. It also doesn't explain the soft crash issue I keep seeing during bucket rendering.

In any case, I'm just trying to get to the bottom of the issue and any direction that can be provided would be very helpful. I'll try and Pack the scene and provide a download link for you as well.

Another oddity, if I restart one specific node, the 2990wx, it always restarts on a separate swarm network, but still shows its rendering the original scene?

        UPDATE:

It's the damn displacement. As soon as I turned it off all my rendering woes disappeared.
