  • color problem with proxy

hello, i can't get the proper color with a proxy i create, any idea ?

You can change the color from diffuse layer, they are under the main proxy material.. If you have their textures, you can add them to the diffuse..

ok, thanks, but that seems to be a random problem because I could have the correct texures applied to the proxy with this same proxy ... and I think normal operation is to create a directly usable proxy

If it was a 3d model and you made it proxy, it will have the same textures, but when you close and restart the sketchup or purge unused, you will probably loose the textures.. So you have to save the textures by file path editor first and draw a surface and aply the textures on it, copy the surface inside proxy and hide it..

Thanks for your help, i tried to do what you say but maybe i don't do everything right ... i found this video that can may help somebody else ... at least i think that making proxies should be more easy than at this moment ...

            Materials should be in .vrmesh

              Hi guys,

The bottom line is that .vrmesh files don't store material together with the geometry.
This leaves you with two options to consider:
              1. Export a proxy and load it as a .vrmesh (using the Import Proxy function). In this case the proxy will be imported with randomly colored materials. If you want to assign the original material from the source object, this has to be done manually.
              2. Export a proxy with the 'Replace objects with proxy' option enabled. This time your original scene geometry will be deleted and instead a proxy object will appear (with the .vrmesh file automatically referenced). In this case the proxy object will automatically use the materials applied to the original object.

As alternative to the proxy mesh a vrscene file can be exported and used as a reference.
In order to do that, make sure that only the object of interest is present in the scene and then use the Asset Editor's 'Export V-Ray Scene' button to generate the file.
You can load the new file the same way the proxy mesh is loaded but this time the materials are stored and will appear (in the render).

There are a couple of ways in which we plan to improve these workflows:
              1. We'll allow just some of the scene objects to be selected and exported as a .vrscene. This will help with building a vrscene model library.
              2. We'll look into ways to enable storing vrmesh assets as .vrmat files together with their material assignments (and the actual materials).
In the ideal case you'll be able to drag and drop a Proxy Mesh asset to the library and then load it back with the shaders.

We'll also try to record and share a video, demonstrating the currently available workflows.

              Regards,
              Konstantin

thanks Constantin, for the moment i use the second option with the 'Replace objects with proxy', it's finally eazy and effective
