  • HELP with wood textures! Please :)

Hi gang, I am very new to Vray and I really love it, but I am having all sorts of problems with wood textures I try to create ?? I am attaching a piece of furniture I designed and I have many high res wood stain samples that I would like to use. For the buffet in the image I just loaded the image of the stain sample I have into the diffuses slot as a bitmap. But as you can see it looks terrible! The floors are from Vray material list. I just don't know what to do?

Do I need to make more maps for the wood stain like a a normal map and a displacement map in a app like MATERIALIZE??

I really hope someone can help me out?

    Thank you!!

    Hi!

From what I see in the image you attach, you need to incorporate reflections in order to stand out details. By adding some reflections and changing the position of your main light you’ll be able to notice better results. Also, as you mention, using normal maps would enhance your materials.

From my my experience the correct lighting balance and direction make a huge impact in an image and how you perceive materials.

Could you show how is set your scene?
