HI I am trying to use the photomatch function of sketchup and composite in photoshop. Is it possible to render the background photo so that elements such as glass (which woudl be able to see to the background in reality) render properly? otherwise compositing in Photoshop is very tricky.

Hi,
You should be able to use the alpha rendering element in V-Ray to use as a mask for compositing in Photoshop with the background, while seeing through the windows.
Things to remember for that to work:
- For the glass material you want to see through, set Refraction > Affect channels = Color + Alpha
- Make sure that any dome light has Option > Affect Alpha = OFF
Hope this helps.

Hi boundary,
Antioche is right - transparent materials should have the Affect Channels option set to either - Color + Alpha or All Channels.
I'd also recompensed you do your final render against a black background.
This will ensure you don't run into 'premultiplied alpha / background' issues when you do your compositing.
Additionally I'd recommend you save the result out as an .exr file and load it in PS using the Alpha as Transparency.
Regards,
Konstantin
