.mat is recognize as a "windows access table shortcut"

hello everybody,
i just downloaded an object wich cames with a .mat file
but the .mat is recognize as a "windows access table shortcut" ... (see the image of the file)
if i look the file proprieties it's a .mat ...
my question : how to use it in V-ray ?

Please be informed that .mat file are not compatible with V-Ray and only .vrmat files are.
