  • Fabric rendering issues

    Hello all,

Was after a bit of advice. I'm currently testing fabric materials and have applied a fabric material to a sofa (back rest) but when rendered, the horizontal surfaces render a different shade to the vertical faces. Would anyone be able to let me know what I maybe doing wrong. I have attached an image for reference of what I mean.

Many thanks in advance and Happy New Year.

Check the faces, try view-face style-monocrome and look if there is any reversed faces..

      Hello,

Could you please send us the project which exhibits the issue to support@chaosgroup.com so we can investigate it in detail?
If this is alright, please use the Pack Project tool(Extensions > V-Ray > Pack Project) to make an archived copy of the project and send it to us via email or file-sharing service of your choice.
Please include a link to this forum thread in the email.
      Thank you!

        Hi fhenaux,

This might as well be a mesh normals issue.
You should try and 'Soften' the surface normals:
        - Select the Group or Component
        - Open the SketchUp's Soften Edge tray
        - Enable Smooth Normals and Soften Coplanar
        - Tweak the Angle slider

        Regards,
        Konstantin
