I like Vray for Sketchup but it is so sensitive to color bleeding, makes scenes all muddy, walls won't remain white. I am mostly using it in interior scenes. I use material overrides to take care of the problem but in the end my file just seems like a bunch of material overrides. Is there a way to decrease the sensitivity so that color bleeding doesn't happen so quickly? I basically have to make a material override for any strong color or any large expanse of any color. I recently started trying Corona for Sketchup and not a problem with that particular thing at all, along with other past rendering programs like Maxwell, Autocad, Revit... why just Vray??

Hi,
Please try with Brute Force + Brute Force combination set for Primary and Secondary Rays in the GI sub menu(V-Ray Asset Editor > Settings > Global Illumination) to see if it makes a difference.
Please note that this will increase the render times.
Additionally, with V-Ray Next for SketchUp, update 2 a new material workflow was introduced where you can easily add material attributes(like override) from the top left corner(please see attached image) to add additional properties to a given material.

Hello GD3DESIGN ,
Could you please let me know in what use case you wish to use this parameter or provide a screenshot to better illustrate.
Note that render elements(like Global Illumination, Lighting, Reflection, etc) can be set and exported and after that manipulated in a post processing program providing greater control over the output.

To get its current value, please use:
Code:VRay::LiveScene.active.get_param "/SettingsGI", "saturation"
Code:VRay::LiveScene.active["/SettingsGI"][:saturation] = 0.5
Thank you for bringing our attention to this!

The GI saturation parameter will continue being considered a legacy option as it fosters workflows that are not physically-based. If you do not wish to rely on using Override material attributes as a workaround to color bleeding, please consider adjusting the color intensity of the material causing the bleeding.
Hope this short video helps:

This is a pretty tiny test. I don't think the suggestion to adjust the intensity of color causing the problem is much of a fix, and as I mentioned it also occurs with any expanse of even a mild color. I have been using Vray for years and the muddy/color bleeding problem is the reason I switched to Corona. However, since I want to continue to use SketchUp, and Corona doesn't make a plug-in for Sketchup, I have to import my Sketchup files to Cinema4D in order to make contact with Corona. It works great but recently I realized how expensive Cinema4D will be once I finish my 18 month educational allotment. If the Vray color bleeding problem were fixed I would consider going back to Vray. Are you still considering changes as you mentioned above?We've renewed an internal discussion about its functionality and alternatives. Once carefully considered some changes may be introduced. For the time being we recommend using the Override material attribute.
