  • Swarm via VPN

    Hi

I wonder if its possible to use Swarm via VPN?

When I'm at home, I connect to my computer at work via VPN. I wonder if I can this computer with Swarm, when I render local at home?

I have started the Vray SWARM on my local computer, it opens a browser window that shows that my local swarm is available, not not any network nodes.

Am I'm doing something wrong, or is it not possible to use Swarm via VPN?

    Thanks

You should not encounter any problem using Swarm this way as long as the other machines and yours are in the same subnet.
Please keep in mind transferring assets of large scenes over the internet may be too slow and diminish the gains from using distributed rendering.
An easier approach would be to connect remotely to your office machine and initialize the render process from it.

    Kind regards,

      Thanks for your reply Peter.

I have brought the firm pc home to test it. But it seems that they can't see each other.
I have PM you the status - can you figure out what could be wrong?

What is strange is, that the home PC, doesn't show the Vray version in Swarm UI.

They are both on the same Wifi, and both are version 4.20.03.

          Hello, muoto ,
The only option V-Ray Swarm offers to separate specific render node machines from others is manual assignment of tags. So, if there are a number of machines in a specific child subnet that you wish to group together for rendering you can manually add the same tag to each of them (https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...iguration-Tags). This way they can be included/excluded in the distributed rendering process via the Swarm settings of the V-Ray Asset Editor (https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...Swarm+Settings).
          Does this answer your question?

          Kind regards,
          Peter
