  • Offline setup of V-Ray 5 assets

How do We install the V-Ray 5 Material Library, Light Gen Assets offline on a machine that is not connected to the internet?

    Is it in the documentation?

    Hi flat

You will need internet connection at least the first time to download the assets, or alternatively, you can download them on another machine with internet connection and then copy them to your offline machine. Make sure that the file path is the same - username\Documents\V-Ray Material Library

      Hello, Nikoleta

Where is the V-Ray 5 SketchUp material library path defined?
What if I want to place the material library in a custom location?

Is it the same entry as 3ds Max?
      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Chaos Group\V-Ray Material Library

Can I customize this library path without using the Registry Editor?
(Many customers don't want to touch the Windows Registry Editor.)

The V-Ray 5 for SketchUp, V-Ray 5 for Rhino and V-Ray 5 for 3ds max libraries share the same registry key entry as they also share the same hi-res texture asset files.
There is currently no way to alter the default location without modifying the file path string in that entry.

I understand the caution users express when it comes to tampering with their system's registry. Adding a more user-friendly alternative is being evaluated.

        Regards,
        Peter

The library data will be 10GB.
Companies with a large number of licenses have a request to put their libraries on a common drive.

Also, there are many companies where artists cannot connect to the Internet due to security concerns. (Artist does not know Proxy settings)

          ChaosGroup should be more user-friendly.
I look forward to future improvements.
