  • Creating correct maps for Vray?

Hello everyone. I am attaching a high res image of a wood stain and wood grain that I want to be able to put on furniture to then be rendered in Vray. I have pretty much always used Vray wood and or from polliigon, but I want to be able to use a few different ones. Would someone be able to help me with what are the best maps I should create and how to create them? I have photoshop and I downloaded Materialize. Just not sure what maps beside diffuse I should create? I would think Diffuse, Bump and Reflection maps? Sometimes they seem to have different names such as height map, normal map etc. I am pretty new to all this stuff so if anyone can help me out would be greatly appreciated! Everyone here has always been very helpful!

    Thank you

You can copy your that diffuse texture to the reflection map and the bump map, after that, wrap in - color correction and desaturate, after that give it some brightness for reflection map, and some brightness and contrast for bump map.. Brightness and contrast values are depend on your needs, you can test some values on interactive render.. I made a test of your texture.. I add coat 0,5..

Thank you sooooo much! That’s exactly what I want! Would it be to much to ask if you could show me the detailed way to do this? Kind of a step by step process? I sort of understand some of what you said, it definitely not all of it I would really appreciate it

      thank you again!

Drag the diffuse texture to the reflection color map slot as copy, right click on it, choose wrap in-color correction.. In the color correction settings make saturation value zero, increase the brightness value, the more the white the shiny the surface.. Go up and drag the reflection color map to the bump map slot as copy, in the color correction settings give it some contrast and try some small values on bump intensity, 0,1 for example.. That is it.. You can add some coat for extra shinyness..

Hi guys, I tried to do what you said but had a few problems understanding exactly how to do that? Is there anyway you could post a quick video of the steps? I know thats a lot to ask, but I seem to learn so much better by watching a tutorial. Sorry for this and if you dont have the time I understand and will keep looking on youtube

            thanks again!
